DR Black Beauties... Kind of dull?

Has anyone else noticed a lack of brightness and clarity from the BBs? I have Duncan 1/4 pounders in my P bass and compared to normal nickel strings, the coated Beauties sound kind of low and sort of muddy. I never really noticed this much until I finished my 2nd P project and strung it with nickel rounds. The juxtaposition just seems like night and day. Any other experiences out there?

Think it could be an EQ issue? I've been using BB's on my MTD for the past few monthes and love the tone...true, they aren't the absolute brightest strings out there but I find them to be a far cry from muddy.

I'm with Mr. Qu!ck on this one. I don't think they're as bright as some, but they're a far cry from muddy or dull IMHO. As always though, string tone is so subjective. The only thing I noticed was that you could sometimes get some noise from your fingers sliding across the coating on the strings.

You guys nailed it. I started fiddling with my amp eq and sansamp eq and I have a much better sound now. I knew there was a reason I liked these strings.
