DR Black Beauty/Chromes tension?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'd like to get DR Black Beauties for the look, or D'Addario Chromes for flats but unsure about their tension. Right now I have DR Highbeams .45 .65 .80 .100 and they have really low tension which I need, so I was wondering if anyone could kinda compare the 3/tension wise-playability wise. I just ordered a new Fender Jazz and was needing some wise TB opinions on what to string it up with. Thanks.

P.S. I don't think my wife wants me to drop the $$$ for T.I.'s so those are out of the question.

I like D'Addario Chromes and have used them. I just recently changed them out for some La Bella flats and the La Bellas seem to have a little less tension than the Chromes, but more than TI flats. Can't tell you how they compare to the DR's however as I've not tried them. If you're worried about tension maybe try some La Bella deep talking flats in 760FL guage.

I haven't tried the D'Addario Chromes so I can't comment. But I have been using the DR Black Beauties on my Jazz bass and I love them. They seem to last a little longer than anything else that I have tried.

What about the tension of the Black Beauties? I'm getting an arctic white so I think they'd look cool and I've read the fingernoise is low and also somewhat fast because of the coating.

The tension is relatively low as well as the finger noise and yes the they seem faster than other strings that I have used so I do assume that is because of the coating. They would look really sweet on an artic white jazz.
