Sign in to disble this ad
I got a set of Red color coated strings. They sounded good but seemed to be lacking highs. Tho im not sure if its my new sterling. And they seemed to have died very quick. About 3 weeks with little playing and they are looseing it. Are they not so bright?

I don't these string were meant to be bright. I love these strings for similar reasons.

1.) since they aren't as bright the tend to pick up very little to know finger noise( i have very high output pickups)

2.) Also the you can really make the brightness come out with slap, so they aren't too bright IMO

They seem to lose there initial brightness quickly but the stay at IMO perfect brightness for months before they truly die.

I agree w/Hellonwheels; they do seem to lose their initial brightness quickly, but retain what some may consider "the perfect brightness" for quite a while. I just put a new set on the night before a recording session last week. I had the old set on for some time prior to the change (probably a 4-5 months). After changing strings, the new set seemed really bright to me. But when playing them most of the next day, they seem to "smooth" out a bit after an hour or so.

I personally like a smoother sounding string, but without getting too mellow. These strings seem to do that quite well; both the black and the red. Plus both colors look really cool on my black P-bass!!
