I've tried prosteels, sunbeams, highbeams, fat beams, red devils, black beauties, elixir's, slinky coated, thomastik's, sit's, warwick blacks, rotosound's and ghs strings and with the exception of the sunnies and beauties nothing comes close to these in terms of tone, and feel.
They are very similar to the red and black dr's but maintain the coating a lot longer and dont look as obvious when the coating eventually strips at points on the string. When I first got them they took a few plays before setting in, but man that feel! it's slippery and encouraging when playing fast complex runs. The strings never get gritty when playing 16th's, and the finger sweat actually seems to create a 'lubricating' effect allowing for even faster play, something I was looking for in a string to begin with as I find most steels tend to grip my fingers when I'm trying to play a quick run
The tone is interesting, at first compared to sunnies or high's they seem to lack in the treble range, particularly the harmonics, but once they settle in they have a very organic tone and the highs/harmonics are elevated.. these sound frickin amazing on a graphite neck btw, so if you own a modulus or zon, check these out.
Live they have a very solid audible response, slightly dampening on the high/mid range, but very clear and solid in the lows.. you might need to adjust your treb/mid settings on either bass or amp to accommodate for the initial moderate loss but it's a small price to pay considering the feel of these things and the evenness in tone. Not to mention the longevity.. I have had my latest set on for five months, using the same bass solidly at practices, gigs and screwing around at home and they still sound as good as the first week they settled in.. the only thing I have had to do to restore them is give them a clean with some EB string cleaners, and they look and feel exactly like when I first installed them.
one tiiiny word of warning though, because these strings are super slippery, I'd recommend using a string winder, or you might get a bit frustrated when they keep slipping out of the tuner when installing them... but that's a minor complaint really.. Oh and as for elixirs? I wouldn't even touch those after these dragons.. come to think of it, I doubt I'm going to be deviating from these to anything else for some time
bloody awesome

I'm a tone fanatic and have experimented a great deal with basses, rigs, cords & strings. My favorite string set usually depends on the bass: d'addario and DR sunbeams the go-to strings, with the occasional T-I Powerbass or LaBella deep talking steels. Looks like I'll be getting more of the Dragon Skins on several of the basses now! |

I have checked for sharp edge or something but there's not any.
Will keep DAE as a backup.

If so private message me. | This happened like 2 months or so ago just when I got them. I've bought them via e-bay here in Europe and I believe seller weren't an authorized dealer. Thanks anyways SLaPiNFuNK. |
