what do you want to know?
I have a set of black beauties on my yamaha 5 that sat on for 4 months and didnt miss a beat,... have distinct sound to them with lots of overtones and depending on your EQ can sound very piano? could just have been the bass tho...

I liked them, kind of coarse but not as course as metal strings, after playing with pick for ages only noticed the slightest of wear and it didn't affect anything,...

pretty sure theres a thread a few pages back on them? oh and I like the custom .130 B string as opposed to the 125,... the 125 felt sloppy as but that could just be that bass,...

I have elixir's on my K5, love them cos theyre so smooth and silky and easy to play and can get a nice tone out of them,... learning to play finger style on my yamaha and slap was hard cos the overtones of the strings if not muted 100% would ring out like crazy,... that said I havent played it for 6 months so if I went back to it I could probably play alot 'cleaner' now (only been playing for a year),...

oh yeah sliding canes your fingers a bit on black beauties,... but thats just a small hurdle,... and elixirs vs black beauties with the wear thing, my elixirs are slightly coming off but hasnt affected it, black beauties only slightly with pick for ages and no affects,... so I don't personally think theres a problem with it

that said the tones on coated strings seem to differ from metal,... and the DR's have a specific tone of their own

good luck!

I've tried all the coated strings out there, and I would say that the DRs are a very different animal than the Elixirs. As mentioned above, they have a different feel and to me a much less zingy tone too. Frankly, they didn't last nearly as long as the Elixirs and weren't that different than the regular, uncoated DRs which I like better anyway. I've finally settled on Elixirs for almost all of my basses- though they sound better on some basses than others.

they certainly did turn lot of ppls eyes to my bass when i had the pink ones on.
but to me it felt like there was no "zing" and the paint will start slowly chipping off the string over time. especially if using a pick

I use only these on my P-Bass because I cant seem to find any other string that feels the same. U'll just have to try em out. the color, texture and sound can only be judged by you,

I just put some Black Beauties on my P Bass. I haven't had a lot of time to play around with them because I've had company over to entertain, but I like what I have experienced. They felt nice to me and sounded satisfactory. It was definitely an improvement over the strings that were on my Squier when I picked it up used not too long ago. I like the mellow sound. It sets my P bass apart from my others.

If you can find a good deal, I'd say go for it. I got ripped off on mine. I paid about $45 for mine. MF sells them for $35. I guess that's the price you pay to support a local business. I got lucky because they had to special order them and they managed to get them the next day. I saved on shipping and got them a lot sooner. I'd say the extra $10 was worth it.
