anyway... i've ordered some sunbeams and have just bought a set of regular fender nickelplated strings. i'll see how they stack up (besides the difference in composition). DRs have always felt... tighter and just generally better than all the others i've tried.

Really love the way they feel and sound. I'm into the bright/crisp thing so they get changed out about every 5-6 months. |

Quite different thing.

Quite different thing. | In 2005 or so, I had a long conversation with an employee of GHS that told me GHS made DR strings, among others. It took alot of coaxing, but he did say flat out that DR were made by GHS. Now, that is not to say that they are the same, just made by the same company in the same factory. Eminence does it with speakers. |

D'adarrio, EB, and GHS all do their own (I believe) and there may be one or two more. |

In short, he told me that their factory is in Emerson, NJ, and they employ about 100 people winding the strings. He mentioned he drives by the house everyday on his way to the factory where they started the business with two string winding machines in a garage. |

FWIW, all the info I've heard is that there are very few places that actually manufacture strings, as mentioned above. Many of them probably come from under the same roof, but they probably have different specs and construction. I believe I read something to that effect in Bass Player a loooong time ago; maybe I still have that issue somewhere. |

DR says their strings are made in Emerson, NJ.
Fender is from Scottsdale, AR. and probably makes their strings in mexico, though I can't confirm this.
