DR flats....uneven sound levels on G and D string

First off, I am new to "flat" land....my experience is extremely limited. My only exposure to flats is from a bass I have recently purchased. The bass was shipped to me with TI Jazz Flats. IMO, I thought the TI's were too floppy....not enough string tension. NTM, they felt kind of "gripy" to me....kind of like a DB string with rosin on it. The previous owner was kind enough to include a used set of DR flats in the case. He thinks they were Sunbeams....although he wasn't positive. I immediately noticed a huge difference with the DR's strung in the bass. 1 - the tension is where I prefer it. 2 - they sounded better (to me) than the TI's. 3 - they didn't feel "sticky" like the TI's did. Despite all of the things I like about the DR's, the D & G strings are waaayy louder than the A & E strings. The TI's seemed more balanced than the DR's. My question is has anybody else experienced this while using DR's. If so, what are the most "balanced" set if flats you can get. I am leaning towards getting DA Chromes. But, if the Chromes are unbalanced maybe I will lean towards something else. Thanks!!

I've had a set on a bass for a year and change. No real 'balance' issues until recently, the low B is going dead and tubby while the others aren't.
