DR flatwound strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
I read some posts a year ago about DR making a set of flatwound strings but I can't find any info on them at all, not even on DR's website. Do these strings really exist?

I've seen them at www.theperfectbass.com but not really anywhere else.

As far as info goes, just do a search on here and you'll find plenty.

I bought a set at The Perfect Bass (previous post). Put them on my Squier TB and love them, now my string of choice.

DR's support is also a +1. The set I received had a "bad" G string. DR replaced the bad string with a complete new set, no questions asked.

I have 3 sets of the DR HiBeam flats. I purchased them all at a local store. The website for DR has said coming soon forever now, and I can't find them anywhere by web order. Maybe it's time for one of us to shoot them an email and find out what the deal is.

email sent!

One of my students has a set on his 66 P bass. They sound pretty good and feel pretty good. I like my Thomastics better but the DRs are decent.

DR mailed me back...the hibeam flats are still made, but you have to ask your local store to order them if they aren't on the shelf.

Funny you guys mention this, I'm an endorsing artist and didn't know they had these till recently!!
I did just order a couple of sets. Will weigh in with some observations when I get them on my new Sadowsky P/J5

When I tried to get a set for my mim p, they were unavailable. so i got a set of ghs flats.
they feel nice. no doubting their warmth. use them for some rootsy sounds.
