I like the Highbeams. I use the med-light set, 45-100 gauge.

Whats your style? If all you do is fingerpicking, then you can probably get hi-beams. I do some slap and tap, so I appreciate the extra tightness of lo-riders myself. Plus, the lo-riders are very growly, which is something that I like.

Marcus Miller signatures. I have found that these work best on a Jazz.

DR's are on every instrument I own. I freaking love them. I started on the highbeams. They are SUPER bright. I really only dig them after ive broken then in a for a few days, then they hold that tone twice as long as any other string ive tried. I recently have put a set of the coated strings on my pbass. I think the coating dulls the strings just enough to sound like a broken in set of high beams. I probably like the coated ones the most now.

I personally hated Hi Beams. They were way too "tinney." I am about to try Sunbeams on my Jazz. I'll let you know how I like those.

I LOVE DR LO-RIDERs (45-125). As soon as they are broken in (about a week or two for me), they are perfect. The only reason I change them is my GAS to try a new product.

They are stiff, hold up well to playing hard, and sound great.

I love DR strings. The only string I use !! I have been using Hi-Beam LR40-5s (.40-.120) but just changed to Low-Riders because i wanted a little extra tension. The Hi-Beams are very bright new, a little too bright. The low-riders are just right.
try the Hi-beams first,Then try the Low-riders and you can make a decision.

Hi-Beams are great... I have them on my Jazz but I think I prefer the sound/feel of nickels. The stainless steels are very bright when you first put them on the bass.

I only use DR's as well but I don't like the High-Beams. I use Lo-Riders on my 'Wicks and Sunbeams on my fretless Zon and P-Bass.

I might try nickel Lo-Riders on my Precision next though. I've been going for a more gritty rock tone and the Sunbeams might be a little too warm. Great strings though.

I use Lo-riders on my Modulus and Warwick, but I've tried Hi-beams and Lo-riders on my MIA Jazz and settled on Sunbeams. They sound sweet. So if you like Nickel go with the Sunbeams. I don't think you could miss with either Hi-beams or Lo-riders though. Crap, I really didn't help any.

Lo Riders all the way. MMFat beams sounded too midrangey on my P bass. Hi Beams lacked bass. Lo riders are the perfect strings for a jazz bass IMHO.

High beams for the zing, but my next set will probably be black beauties.
