DR Hi Beams on a 34" Scale 5 String?

Does the 125 or 130 B match the 45-105 set better?

I am looking to try DR Hi Beams for the first time on my RV5. I have experience with Nickel and Steel Lo Riders Bs and was not overly impressed. Thanks.

I use the 45-125 Hi Beam set on my Sadowsky RV when I had it, and it sounded GREAT. The B string sounded wonderful to me, and the relaxed feel of those strings (i.e., relatively loose tension) really felt good on that bass to me.

I have the same set on both of my Alleva's now. Killer, and they last a long time.

The size of the B string is always a compromise between tension and the nasty overtones and dull tone you can get with very heavy strings. I find the 125 a very nice diameter for these particular strings, especially on basses with very stiff neck construction like the Sadowsky and Alleva.

Thanks for the feedback. Did you find that the Hi Beams on the RV5 were a good sit in the mix for finger style play. I am doing a lot of gospel stuff that involves a bit of walking / hanging in the pocket. The low tension, smooth feel, and the number of people who love them make me think I am missing something.
