DR Lo Rider heavy and CGDA tuning?

Sign in to disble this ad
I use Lo Rider's on my 5 string and love the strings. Definitely my go-to bass strings.

The gauges (from what I read online) are:

B- . 120
E- .100
A- .080
D- .060
G- .040

using this as a guide, I found the 4 string heavy set that would be used as follows

C- .110
G- .090
D- .070
A- .050

Does it sound like that would work? Wasn't sure if I could use string gauge as a guide to determine proper tension

or would buying individual lo riders be better and stick with a .060 D (like the 5 string set I currently use) and a .035 for the A (slightly thinner than the .040 G)? Would there be a reason to go any thinner for the A (.030)?

I actually have a question for you about your .040-.120 on your 35" 5 string.. are you able to tune up to C with the .120s?
