DR Lo-Rider and Hi-Beam outer wrap the same?

I'm thinking of making a dive back into the world of stainless steel strings. DR Hi-beams claim not to eat frets, which I like. I like a little stiffness or tension in my strings though, is the only difference between the hi beam and lo rider strings the round or hexagonal core, respectively? Or would the lo riders eat frets more than hi beams?
