Anyone tried these?

I wanted to get the regular 45-105 gauge but for some reason the music store only had these (45-100).

How different from the 105 gauge is it? Is the set balanced? I wouldn't want the E and A to be too loose.. and/or the D and G to feel a lot tighter..I'm hoping it's not too different from 45-105.

Previous strings were DR hi-beam 45-105.

Thanks.

I always use the 45-100 sets. I find that they're more balanced than the 45-105 sets.

Really? That puts me a bit at ease..

How do you find the E and A of the 100 lo-rider set compares to the same strings from a 105 Hi-Beam set? I'm assuming it's still going to be tighter..I'm hoping.

Thanks!

I like 45-105 sets because I like the tension when I tune the E down to D. If you don't do drop D then I'm sure 45-100 will work great.

Hmph. Well, I do tend to drop D once in a while.. but I don't typically go lower than that. I'm sure the 100 lo-rider E string will be tighter than the 105 hi-beam..?

My Ibanez bass came with 45-100 gauge set from the factory. I see no reason to move to a different gauge. I have only been through 2 sets of strings, Dean Markley Blue Steels, and whatever the factory ones are. Elixers or something, I am not sure I guess. And I tune down to drop D with it regularly, and they still feel great to me.

Sounds about the same, except I think the 100 E string has a bit more life to it and doesn't tend to be as boomy as the 105.

I stepped up from the light-gauge Lo-Riders (.040-.100) to the medium-lights (.045-.100) and much prefer the slightly heavier gauge. Notes played on the D & G strings seem to have more muscle and heft, while the E & A strings still have a lot of authority, without being unduly stiff.
