Talking DR LO-Riders

These seem to be the perfect medium I was looking for. I took off the Pro-Steels from my P-Bass and put Lo-Rider 50,70,90,110's on. They are more like 45-105's. They made the lo-riders smoother than they used to be. They are not as dry. And as advertised, they don't eat your frets. BIG +1! I like em.

Loving the ones on my Warwick right now.

Pulled those lows in tight and gave them some incredible punch.

I put a fresh set on my Status Energy yesterday and I'm really digging the tone, excellent strings.

Got the stainless version on my warwick too.

Fantastic strings all round. I had the Fat Beams on before.

Am planning on trying the entire range as they seem to be the ones for me, after trying a host of others, GHS, D'Addario, Rotosound......etc..

I have a set on my five string (Ibanez BTB 515e) and it's really brightened everything up a bunch. They also advertise them as being tighter than most strings. Dont know if its relative but I detune my B to Ab and it isn't floppy at all. Man they sound nice slapping and with harmonics.

i was not completly thrilled with them on my Musicman Sterling. They seemed to lack something, something i found with EB strings.

I just with the EB's had the drop D of the Lo-Riders.

DR advertises and quotes that they don't eat your frets. The steels that is. Marcus Miller has been using them for years with no fret wear on his 1977 J-Bass. I'll let you know in a year...

I got these about 2 months ago for my warwick corvette...fell in love with them. but after 2 months. theyre starting to sound a bit duller...is there any way to keep em' sounding bright and new? bass strings are expensive, so i want to make them sound as bright and snappy as possible for at least 6 months....any suggestion? thanks in advance

Advice: Buy new strings. I can only keep strings lively sounding for about 4 weeks with constant play. I think that is pretty typical of round wounds. Or, if you refuse, crank the trebble

Yeah; time will tell. Figjam may have had problems with his, or heard otherwise. Can't just take the company's word for it. I'd like to hear back from you in about 6 months whether or not they did any wearing. Thanks for the thread.

I use DR-string. I've tried numerous brands, and have stuck with DR for the following reasons: long life expectancy
little or no fret wear
(fretless)neglible fretboard wear
reasonably priced
terrific sound

You could not pay me to switch brands!

I've been using DR Fat Beams for a couple years now on my 4-string and MTD 5-string basses and they sound great and last a long time. I tried a set of Fat Beams on my Fender 5-string and the B-string is the worst. The other four strings in tight and solid full sound. The B-string is flabby in both tension and sound. I wrote DR about it thinking it might be bad B-string and never heard back from them. I tried D'Addario's on the same Fender 5-string and it they are tight and sound good.

I love DR Lo-Riders, if you soak them in alcohol (methyl hydrate) overnight in a sealed container, they will regain a lot of their brightness - but they won't have quite the same harmonic content as new strings.

The coated strings aren't as good as the non-coated strings. I tryed them and didn't like them. They add to the look but cost you in sound.

DR's are looser feeling than most brands of strings. If you choose DR's go up a guage to compensate for the looser feel. This will give you more tension. I use the Lo-Riders in 50,70,90,110 and they feel like 45-105's. Also, Hi-Beams and Fat Beams are wound on round cores where Lo-Riders are wound on Hex cores and are stiffer because of that. In either case I go up a guage when using them.

Big time Seargent. I went with the black ones ( BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!!) and immediately heard the muffled tone.

I've been alternating between SunBeans and nickle LoRiders. Think I like the Beams better, but its a Hobson's choice.
