I hated messing with the bridge, and the tapered B still buzzed on the frets. Give me a big fattie anytime. Better B sound imho. And I play on that string alot.

BTW, I'm not using nickle lo-riders becuase thaty are a tad stiff for me, esp in a 34" scale. Other than that, they flippin' rock. Nice strings, but back to Sun-Beams for me.

My experience with DR Lo-Riders has been awesome, especially with the 4-string set. It's my string set of choice for my Schecter Stiletto Custom-4. They've worked wonderfully for quick fingerstyle moves and articulate picking.

On my 5-string set of Lo-Riders, it's a bit of a different story. The low B string seemed a bit "loose" to me, and it caused some fret buzz no matter how I adjusted the bridge or truss rod. Originally, I had some Elixir Nanowebs installed on the bass, and when I switched them back on, everything was fine.

I'm not sure if it's a characteristic of Lo-Rider B strings, or just a bad string, but the Elixir set's B definitely worked better.

Anyhow... +1 to any 4-string DR Lo-Rider or 4-string DR Coated sets! My experiences have been top notch with those types. Haven't tried the others yet (although I'd really like to get my hands on their new Hi-Beam flatwounds!).

I'm still using my Lo-Rider set (sans a G, because I cut the string too short for the Fender-style 4+1 headstock on my SX, and a high C) ~5 months down the line and they still sound great. I clean them about once a month with rubbing alcohol and they sound good as new for a couple weeks.

I highly recommend them. I'm waiting for awhile to buy a 6-string set (gonna put the low B on my Ibanez and string my SX EADGC)

DR Lo-Riders Users;
I just bought a set of stainless Lo-Riders 45-100. I noticed the sound is a little thinner than the sound I was getting with Boomers. Do they get any fatter as they play in? I would just buy XL's if somebody had some at good prices where I live because I like the sound and feel of nickel wound strings better. I just couldn't see spending the same amount on Boomers as DR's because the latter last so much longer. I might go back to the buttery feel and fat sound of the GHS though if my Lo-Riders don't get thicker sounding.

This has happend to me aswell while changing strings, with some warwick strings and with a set of GHS brite flats. It snaps before it reaches the correct tuning. I think it happens when one thightens the strings too fast, so nowadays I take a brake when they start to build up some tension (sp?). Just let them sit there for a while, and then I return and tune it. Never broken a string since. And I've never broken one while playing eighter.
