Any opinions on these strings? What is the benefit of them being taper-wound?

They're hex core, but more flexible than lo riders due to the taper. They're nice, but don't really have any advantage that I could detect over either lo riders or hi beams. The B string is no different than any other DR B (which means about C+ in my book frankly). I was really hoping the taper would make the B string more of a LaBella quality B, but it doesn't.
