DR Long Necks on Fender Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently received a set of Long Necks as a gift. I have never used these strings before although I have tried low riders and high beams so I have an idea what they might sound like.

I consulted the DR website and I don't understand what sets the Long Necks apart from the Low Riders other than a longer taper for the winding. Both state that they are a stainless wrap around hex core.

Are Long Necks actually designed for longer bass necks or through the body bridges? Will they fit a standar Fender Jazz bass?

Thanks

The long necks are designed for 35 inch and 36 inch scale basses.
The tapered part is longer.
I have put them on my Fender Roscoe Beck v and they worked fine on a 34inch scale..
However...I didn't care much for them...very stiff feel and I don't like the harmonic effect of taperwound strings...so I switched them....I do love the B string though!
