DR lowriders... dissapointment.

Sign in to disble this ad
ok so i just put a set of dr lowriders on my ibanez srx3 bass tuned to drop C on saturday and i have to say i am slightly dissapointed in the way they play

firstly i bought a set of 110-50 gauge strings and i sware it feels more like a 105-45 set so that kinda sucked seccondly the strings were rough, like hard to slide your fingers across

and the strings sounded very clanky especially on my low e string, more than my 105 gauge d addario strings

anyway they have only been on my bass for 3 days do they need time to get broken in?

one good thing i have to say it that they sound great lol but i did realize that the sound is not all for a great string

Let's see. They sound great, but your unhappy with them.

I use nickle low-riders on my P bass....they aren't rough....nickle is a little softer. Lo-riders have less "zing" than most IME.

I'll stick up for lo-riders. They are my favs.

Those are the only strings I use. Maybe you should try DR Highbeams.

110 > 105...raise your E string a bit.

Probably should do a truss rod adjustment too.

yup. you changed string gauges, so you'll need to make some setup adjustments

Yup, time for a set-up. So you probably need to adjust neck, saddles, pick-ups, and intonation.
