Hey guys..
I have been wanting to try out some of the DR coated strings, after reading this article http://www.bassemporium.com/newslett...ewsletter.html
and listening to the clips. I am not a big fan of colored strings. I prefer the regular old look. Do their silver stars strings look pretty much like normal strings?
Thanks
I've had these on 3 of may basses and removed them on the weekend. Not a bad sound, not a good one either. My problem was after 3 months I still could not come to terms with the "grabbiness" of the strings. I replaced them all will el cheapo nickel Dean Markley Bass Blasters and I'm now a lot happier. They play better and sound so much better.
As Skyblue mentioned, they do have a certain feel to them that is different from non-coated strings. I got used to the feel pretty fast and it was never an issue. As far as sound goes, I LOVE the way they sound on my Fender passive P/J bass. They instantly made the bass sound deeper with more sustain than other strings I've tried on it and I've tried A LOT on it. They sound good on my Sterling but I prefer nickel over steel on my Sterling.
I wanna try these. I love black beauties, but they just look wrong. I hope they aren't too different from them.

Black Beauties is just a name given to describe the black colored "DR Long Life" strings. Silver Stars is the name to describe the Silvery-white color. They are the same strings though
