DR Strings

Hi, i've heard a lot of great things about DR strings, which made me want to try those. But, I saw that the 6 strings sets come in 30-125 and I am afraid that it is a little bit too light for the low B, since I usually like the heavier gauge on the lower strings (Right now I'm using a 130 and find it to be the limit).

If we compare to d'addario strings, for exemple, I think it is quite strange to have "Regular" A and E (85, 105) and a "Super Soft" Low B (125) in one set, that doesn't sound really logical to me.

I'd really appreciate to hear your thoughts and experiences about that subject before I go spend my money, in order not to buy strings I will not be satified with.

Thanks,

Nicolas

I've got DR-Loriders for my fiver with a .130 B, and its great.
do some searching and you can probably find a thicker gague B for a six string!

...or get a separate C string... but that gets pricey

My dealer looked into his suppliers catalog and found out that DR doesn't sell separate strings and that there is no 6 string set with a 130 B.

Get a 5 string set and add a C... this is what I do. My dealer does this.

DR

Dr makes Sunbeams, Lo-Riders, and Lo-Riders SS in 30-130, would that help?

your dealer needs to look harder or get on the phone. I buy individual DR strings. Also, the .125 B is killer on my 2 basses that wear DR strings (hi-beams and fat-beams)

Well, the .125 B from other brands I used felt way too light under my fingers for my tastes. But maybe DR string have a naturaly greater tension that makes a .125 comparable to a .130 from, let's say, d'addario?

tension

Sarsipp,

You should check with both DR and the bass players here about the tension.

From what I've been told the Sunbeams have a bit less tension than the lo riders due to the round core vs the hex core.

Before you buy ask these guys/gals and DR.

Perhaps your dealer simply needs a newer catalog?
