Hey I am wanting to try some DR black beauties on my 5 string. I'm just wonderin if anyone uses them and do they like them and how they sound. I use d addario exl165-5 now but any comments will help thanks.

I use them,(never black, but pink,red,and blue)I love em.

They feel good, sound good, the tone seems to last a while too.
the one problem(if u consider it a problem) is that the coating does tend to "wear away" where it hits the frets, and where you pick (if you should use a pick)..doesnt change the tone at all though.

They're kinda pricey, but worth it IMO.

Pretty much agree with the above.
I finger pick , so not too bad wear at the bridge end. They sound slightly growly, but that is mostly down to the bass I use them on... They seem to last a while, although I just broke the G string after about , a year?
