+1 Hi Beams feel more like Nickels... probably the smoothest feeling SS strings I've run across.

Again, it does not surprise me that some (and even that many) would not prefer the DR Hi Beam tone, but the reasons given here (don't last long, rough feel) are just so strange compared to the literally hundreds of post talking about smooth feel and length of usable life, that something seems strange to me.

I don't if you guys read the part where I mentioned that I was using DR "Marcus Miller" Signatures, which are another version of the DR "Fatbeams."
I have not tried the Hi-Beams so I was not making a comparison to those strings in any way.

MM Fat Beams and Hi-Beams are almost the same thing, if not the exact same thing.

The "Marcus Miller Signatures" are Fat Beams packaged in Marcus Miller's supposed prefered gauges. Fat Beams are Fat Beams. However, as mention here as well as the thread I've started, can anyone make the distinction between Fat Beam and Hi Beams? They seem virtually identical.

Well my DRs never LOOKED consistent. I use Hi-Beams. I think the wraps look a lot less consistent than any other brand i've tried. But the tone is good, and they last until the strings break. About a year. I've never let the inconsistent look get to me, although the strings were more abrasive than most i've tried.

Which is 45,65,85,105...same exact thing as the MR High Beams 45,65,85,105. Both claimed to be the same 'Tite Fit' winding process, and the same core and wrap gauges.
I've got one of each new pack in front of me, can't tell any difference. And I've got both HB's and FB's strung on my collection of basses and can't tell them apart.

Feel free to post that in this thread: What makes DR Fat Beams different from DR Hi-Beams?
