| | | | They sound great on my Jazz. A little warmer or duller than a standard round to me. |

I really like them. They are warm but bright enough to cut through when needed. I really think it depends on what type of music you're playing and whether or not you're predominately a finger style or pick player? I wouldn't recommend them for funk or heavy metal. |

My personal choices?

So, I'm hoping Sunbeams will be what I thought Hi-Beams were going to be, on the trebley side but still warm on the bottom. I have Bartolinis in the Jazz, so I feel Lo-Riders will be too dark. |

I was thinking about chrome or TI flat but I figured Sunbeam would have more edge than flats. I guess I'm odering Sunbeam now. |

I have them on my DJ4 right now

Again, it really depends on the type of music you're playing. Chromes being left and flats being right, nickle will kinda fit in the middle. I can get everything from deep and warm to a fairly hard grind. Which IMO makes it a pretty versatile string. I would go with 45-105. Go any lighter and IMO they loss punch and fullness across the board, not to mention they are just too delicate if you dig in with finger style playing. |

| | Registered User Sales/Tech: Bass Central | | | | I have them on my Modulus VJ, I love them!
(Pheno board, Bart J's/NTBT)
I've tried a few others...
Chromes- Too dull, very quite with minimal string noise.
DR HiBeams- Too bright, killer sound but way too much string noise.
Sunbeams- Just right, bright enough with tolerable string noise!
String noise= sliding, moving hands, etc.
(Modulus is a great bass that will INSTANTLY show if you use a heavy handed technique, um not me, just saying...)

DR only makes one flat, and it's SS. I was really curious to try them, but the few reports I've heard haven't really excited me enough to buy a set.
PS Lavaman, I love your taste in gear and music, cooking and wine. No, I'm not about to ask you out...
