Jesus, what a royal PITA. The ball end of the Hi-Beams I bought just would not fit into the tail piece. I spent about a half hour compressing the string just to get it to fit. Don't get me wrong, I love DR's and I love my Warwick but boy have I learned my lesson. Tapered B's from now on.
Warwicks (I play them too) do not like non-tapered B's, with the block tailpiece. You can, if you need to, loosen the screws, load the B, then re-tighten. It's the only way that fat B's fit.
Was it the ball or the untapered portion of the string that gave you issues? I have an untapered .145 B on my corvette. I barely had to compress the untapered portion of the string just in front of the ball for it to fit. Sounds great though.
I use DRs on many of my wicks...I tap the end of the E and B right by the ball with a hammer couple times out in my garage no problem does no evil to the strings promise.
Got to do it with my Spectors too as they use righty bridges on lefties. Just a small inconvenience well worth it for DRs.

I was using ErnieBall .125 and .130 nickel wound for a little while, but it was such a pain getting them to fit in the saddle. I tried filing it out a bit(regretful and not recommended) and then discovered the warwick black label(all black label B,E strings are tapered) taranis set(4 string with low b .135). Soo much easier and I like the tone of the stainless better.
Yeah Warwicks do not play nice with large untapered strings.
It actually sounds and plays great. I have no complaints about that.
Atleast it sound(ed) great. Last night the bass went completely dead. Some kin of electronics issue I'll have to look into. Maybe its because of te untapered B... kidding.
