Dropping from 110 to 105 on my E

Sign in to disble this ad
In a bit of a situation. My Fender Jazz Deluxe MIA is strung .045, .065, .085, .110 Taperwound. I would like to swap these out for a set of half rounds, but none of the sets include the sizing of my current configuration causing me to drop from .110 to a .105 for the E. So now the question is will this cause any real signifigance in my setup and annotation? I can't imaging dropping .005 smaller would, but you never know.

What I'm striving for on this bass is less frett noise and a warmer sound. what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Vincent

in this case the difference in sound will come from the string design, not the diameter. there's my humble thought, but i'm sure it's humbly correct.

Sorry all, to clarify frett noise I should have also added finger noise; for me the Taperwounds get real sticky when noodling around for a long period of time.

I would agree also Mike. The concern is that this bass is setup and playing great with the existing string config, messing this up is the concern.

Well I had to order in a set as they did not have handy DR MARCUS MILLER FAT BEAM MEDIUM 45-105. Removed the originals and stung these up. What a differece in the sound nice and warm with a great feel to them aslo. I was intially trying to eliminate some frett noise and finger pull which I'm glad to say did improve dramatically.

My original concern was of any adverse effects from dropping from .110 to .105, this is of no concern any longer performance is amazing. DR claims one of the noticable benifits to these strings is their life, so I will test this and see. On another note, because the originals are only a couple of months old, I have a cleaned-up spare set in my case.

I would recommend these to those curious as to their performance and sound.
