Personally, having tried both, I prefer DR.
What sound are you after?

( oh, y used some 7250, fender wich i didn't like ). they are "rare" at first but cool sounding. i have the lite gauge (40-100) and i like them.they are crisp but not too, i mean if u boost the treble on ur bass/amp they will not crush ur teeth ( ernie's did that )
they have a great tone.u will love them!

I've used one set of DR's and one set of EB's (besides that I've always used D'addario, as far as I remember anyway, not for any particular reason just because that's what I picked up), and so far I've enjoyed the EB's the most. I've decided I'm going to permanently switch to EB's, actually.

I think I've finally found some of the strings that I keep coming back to.
EB Flats are stellar (although I'm trying my first set of DRs and they're pretty sweet so far... a little smoother physically)
but as far as roundwounds go..... DR Fat Beams are the ultimate for me. Although they aren't taper wound like Longnecks(I believe) or GHS SR2000 series, Fat Beams make the world go round. Killer tone, feel, and all 'round amazing strings. ..... for me |

That kills their wonderful tone. Fat Beams are sweet but I really like the taper long necks. I play rock mostly but the tapered long necks are sweet for slapping too! I like their tone! By the way......I have tried every fender, every D'addario, GHS, Ernie Balls, Blue Steels, La Bellas, Gibson and many more.........these are what I have come to love!
DR's all the way! |

i know this sounds strange but ernie balls are not that reliable and dont last at all
I have been so happy with every set of DR's I've put on, although watch out, the g string breaks pretty easy when you're slapping hard, but other than that, the most consistent roundwounds I have used

maybe in La Belle Province but out West they're fairly close to EB's and D'Addarios et al. |

On JustStrings.com, they have a 5-string set of EB nickel rounds at $23.76 and DR nickel rounds at $34.43. That's quite significant, even in the country of their origin. DR's have always been one of the most expensive brands and more difficult to find than EB or d'Addario.
