This has been asked before I think, but on my Amer. Standard P-bass I need to change my strings. I have the original strings on her right now and I'm going to put on some DR colored strings. The DR's are a bit lighter in gauge, so with I need to get a new set up done after I do this?

My take is you don't need to re-setup the bass, but you might want to adjust the truss rod to retain the same neck relief. I'd measure it first, restring, remeasure, adjust the truss rod for the same relief, then refine the relief based on "feel".

Ya, you're def going to want to do a little fiddling, but maybe you'll like the way they sit when you put em on?

When changing brands/gauges of strings almost always needs a setup.

I took the standard fender strings off my bass and threw on the drs with really no problem. The intonation was a little off, but other than that the neck stayed just fine. I used hi-beams 105's i dont know what gauge you are planning on changing to, but those worked out just fine for me
