I started using it about a month ago. It smells like a solvent and it leaves the strings feeling oily. I used it after every gig and I noticed my strings went dead a little sooner than normal.

I just replaced my strings with a set of Slinkys that I've had for about a year. I don't know if the strings were just old or if it's the Dunlop 65, but my B and E strings went dead in one day!

I have some strings on order, I'm kind of hesitant to use the Dunlop 65 once I re-string my bass.

I've always had good luck with GHS Fast Fret; I think I'll switch back to it.

yo if you want string cleaner i cannot express how good caig cleaners are.

the stuff you should use is called deoxit axe wipes. i used to kill a brand new set of strings in one gig. maybe two if i was lucky. i just played our third gig with the same strings, plus 5 rehearsals/

Thanks for the info. I have acid hands. Even though I wipe my strings down regularly, they don't keep their sound for very long. I've used Finger Ease, Fast Fret, and Dunlop 65. Still, I'm lucky if a set doesn't go dead within a month.

The Caig Deoxit Axe Wipes look to be a great idea, and the price isn't too bad, either. Typically how long will a jar of wipes last you?

Thanks again,
- Art

it all depends. they say to use it before and after everytime you play.

i clean the strings with it when they are brand new. you see a lot of discoloration in on the wipe.

if i play multiple times during the day, i will wait till the end of the day before using them. i had the 50 pack last me a month or so. it helps so well against acid hands. it was finally nice to see what broken in strings sound like.
