Dunlop Stainless Steel Sound Test

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Guys, I'm testing these new Dunlop Strings on My Warwick Corvette $$. For only $22 I thought I would give them a try.

These are 45 -125 Stainless Steels.

Tell me what you think.

Pretty sweet tone. I just threw some Dunlop nickels on my 5er last night and I'm really enjoying them. This video makes me want to try the steels as well. Maybe on my 4 string.

Thanks! Fresh off the box, these strings felt like sandpaper. Lots of finger noise. But not too bright. How does the nickles feel?

The nickles are pretty smooth and feel broken in out of the box despite a little sparkle in the high end for the first ten minutes i had them on. Ive used them before on my 4 string G&L tribute L2K and liked them so I decided to use them on my Carvin SB5000 and I am really liking the tone Im getting with them. Alot of mid emphasis but still bright for nickels and sounds really nice when I slap and dig in fingerstyle. So far they are replacing the D'addarios I was using. Nice B string too.

Through my headphones it sounds as though you're using effects. If you are, which effects are you using?

Good Ear!!

I got my Boss GT-6B thru the effects loop of my MarkBass F1. I'm using the compressor modeling the dbx 160 at 4:1 ratio. It adds that punch on each note.

I like the B string on this one compared to the DR Hi Beams 45 - 130 I had on. The Dunlop is less floppy.
Sounds deep when fretted.
Hear it in this clip.

Thanks for your kind words.

I had to roll off a bit of the Hi EQ on the Warwick cuz the Dunlops still had a lot of zing to it.

Depending on your PC speakers, its best to use headphones or earbuds to really hear the mix on this one.

To me its like "Bass Nirvana".

I've read from TBers words used like "Burp, Fart, Round, etc..." to describe bass sounds.

How would you describe this sound?

A little bit of midrange. The small slides really stand out, very audible which is a big plus. To my ear it covers all the tonal ranges to some degree. If anything it may lack a tiny bit in a low range, but thats fine because the song doesnt call for it.
