Dunlop strings 5 string players -- talk to me.

Given all the buzz on Dunlop strings I'm thinking of trying a set. I've been looking for something I like as well as my 4-string DR hi-beam sets, but with a better B (the DR B is so ringy past the 4th fret).

To get close to the feel of 45-105 hi beams, should I go with Medium 5 string or Light 5 string set? Or given that I want to be able to play the low B with a pick and thumb, maybe I should get the Medium 5 w/ 130?

Also, seems like most people prefer the nickels so I'm planning to try those. I love DR steel strings, but most other steels feel too "tacky" to me.

Their 130 Nickle B is the best B I've ever played, and I used to only like flatwound B's, for low action.

I've not tried their other B strings, but I can say the 130 is a great string.

I use the .40-.120 set on my L2500, and the B is pretty darn good. I might have lost a just a hair of punch on the B string going to those strings from SIT .45-.130 which could be contributed to either the size difference in the strings or the fact that the SIT B string is tapered, but from the sound of the .120 I think you'll be quite happy with the .130!

The tackiness of the Dunlop SS is less than other brands. I've used DR's and I'd say the Dunlop SS are similar to DR in terms of feel.

I've used the SS and Nickel and there isn't a lot of different in tone between them. The SS have slightly more bite but not much more.
