durable strings

hello all,

i hate to make a form of "which is the best" but i need somewhere to start experimenting, i play with a somewhat hard attack, and i break strings. I don't exactly have any string endorsements, so i was wondering, does anybody have some suggestions for some strings that can take some abuse?

Know what? My favorite strings are my cheapo $12 Carvin nickels. I've been rotating a couple sets across my basses for a number of months, with soaks in denatured alcohol in between. They sound at least as good as any $45 set of strings I've tried and (knock wood) none of tham have broken yet.

What does the denatured alcohol do?

It's a solvent. It cleans all of the gunk out from inside the little grooves, and essentially makes the strings sound like they did when you first put them on. If you like that sound (I do)...
