E A D G C F strings???? Do they exist?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking of upgrading my 5 string Warwick to a 6 string. I use a deck of high C's on my 5 string and am wondering if E A D G C F strings exist for the six strings. I've read plenty of sites telling tales of people who know people who use that tuning, but i have yet to find anywhere that sells them. Do you have to composite different decks?

please help guys and girls, confused man here.

You're going to make a 5 string Warwick into a 6 string Warwick???

It might be cheaper to buy a 4 string set, and the other 2 strings separate. A lot of the manufacturers sell singles.

Sorry, really couldn't work out a clear and concise way of phrasing all that - buying a four string set or even a five string set is of course possible, but where would i get a high f string? Do they even exist, i think thats the gist of my question.

yes high f strings exist, because they use them on 7 strings i think, look around for single C and F and buy 4 string sets, or buy 6 string and find a F string and save/throw away the low b string

yes they certainly exist, and they go much much smaller, I tune this way and have an .018 as my f and a .025 as my c. You should be able to pick up single strings at your local shop but if not there is endless online sources.

They exist. Right here, as a matter of fact.

Isn't that like throwing away $10?

Yeah. The man is better off buying the high singles and four string set.

Buy them from Conklin, that way the differences between the gauges are consistent.

I have considered making a 5 string jazz into a 6 string bass. I would string it BEADGC though ...

To convert a Warwick 5 to 6 you need to figure out how to get an extra tuner into that headstock and then get a 6 string nut into the 5 string space and then get a 6 string bridge that fits.
