E String always rattling

I think i may know why. When i was new, like 2 weeks ago, i loosed it all the way down to D. Now, whenever i pay a note, it's rattling. So, i'm thinking, i may have to take it off and put it back on? Any suggestions? And i way off?

Sounds like a setup problem rather than the string. If you are still tuned to D, it will rattle because of the lack of tension, so you will need to higher your action. If you mean you went down to D then back to standard E that should have no effect on the string, and people do it all the time.

Ah. I should have mentioned, i tuned it back to E right after.

Then it shouldn't really have anything to do with down tuning, it could be, but i would say its highly unlikely, unless there is clearly something wrong at the tuning post.

Check the truss rod in case the lack of tension caused it to alter (it doesn't normally from just drop D). And if that's fine just raise the action a little.

Its most likely a change in the weather altered your neck/truss rod at a coincidental time of you down tuning. Or you could have done something wrong when you put the strings on? But I cant think what it would be.

So to recap, check neck, check nothing obvious with the string, raise action if you cant find anything else.

I was looking, and it looks like there is something wrong with, believe, the saddle height?. On the E string its slanted back and to the bottom right side. Brand new

I think, i have to raise the right side of the E string bridge, and it'll be good. How can i go aboot that?

Hmmm, altering that could solve your problem, it definitely shouldn't be like it anyway so it needs altering!

All you need to do is look at the saddle from the top, you will see two allen key screws. Get an allen key (I believe you may call the allen wrenches in the US) of the correct size, and turn the right hand side screw clockwise, you should see it gradually raising as you turn it. Do that until both sides are roughly level. Its very easy and you cant do anything wrong, so go for it!
