E string tension

Ok, I'll start with tensions on normal 45-105 daddario xl nickel set:

Note inches mm lbs kg
G 0.045 1.14 42.8 19.41
D 0.065 1.65 51.3 23.27
A 0.085 2.16 48.4 21.95
E 0.105 2.67 40.3 18.28

So you can see that E sting is the floppy, so I was thinking of buying them as singles and make a 45 65 85 110 set on which will E string be:

Note inches mm lbs kg
E 0.110 2.79 46.2 20.95

So that will even it out a little bit. Is it a good idea?
I'm doing this cause while GDA strings when digging in produce a nice, short punchy buzz and E string clanks like hell even though its higher than other strings..
Will that make E much harder to play (left hand)?
I always play EADG tuning, I never drop, it's just cause I want to even the tension.

You can also try dropping the A-string to .080 and D-string to .060.
Upping the gauge to .110 is a good idea. If you can handle the tension on the other strings, the .110 is no different.

I'm with Roland - the .110 is a good idea, and definitely consider swapping out at least the .065

Interesting to see what you thing. I am not sure that even tension equates to even feel. I find the thinner strings at higher tension are easier to play.

I tried absolute even tension sets and it proves out that all things mathematically perfect are rarely musically perfect as well.

A slight diminishing in tension as you go lower seems to bridge the gap between ideals.

I, too, prefer more tension on thinner gauge strings, but a 10 to 15 pound difference low to high (as standard gauge selection provides for) is way too far out of whack IMO.

The higher tension on D and A is ok, I like it.
The lower tension on E bothers me.
I'll try it, and let you know, if it turns out to be a bad idea I'll just buy 105 string and replace 110

Just so. Another element is that as you go to way-lower pitches there seems to be a threshold of acceptable minimum tension - so you end up need ing to design a set around the lowest strings that will work decently tonally and as far as action/excursion issues will allow... and then design the mid- and higher-pitched portions of the set around those big 'uns.
