E and A strings too low tension
I have gauge 45-100 nickel lo rider strings on my bass, and I have had strings with this gauge all the time on it. The last couple of months I do feel the string tension has become a bit too low for what I like, on the E and A string. I also feel I cant go as low with the action as I want too. But I have not done anything with the action so maybe the neck has become too straight..I guy at a local guitar store said the neck was perfect or almost perfect, and he would not touch it. But I did say to him I like the neck to be straight so maybe that was the reason (Should not have done that maybe).
Anyway, I realise I will have to do something, should I just go up in string gauge or tweak the truss rod a bit? The reason I ask is because the truss rod adjustment screw is on the heel of the neck and is not exactly easily accessed, never done it. I also do like how the strings have mellowed and sounds so I am not sure I want to change them.
It has to be the neck then?
