Question EADGC question

Sign in to disble this ad
Is it possible to buy a 5 string set of EADGC? or must one buy a 6 string set and discard the low B? I've always played a 4 string but feeling the need for a new, fretless bass so I thought I'd go the way of the 5 string but have absolutely no need for a low B. and what effect will this have on my neck? thanks all!

please give me direct links to where I could get this sort of 5 string set if at all possible! Thank you!

Very possible.

Get a regular 4 string set of your preferred string, then go here and get the C string:
Single Bass Guitar Strings

That will usually be cheaper than buying a 6 string set and throwing out the B unless you can sell it.

You will probably have to do a truss rod adjustment and replace the nut on your bass to accommodate the new strings.

I went this route on my ACG fretless. Started B-G and couldn't figure it out. Switched to E-C, no nut change and it's been a dream. JustStrings.com and many singles. I'm using TI JazzRounds. You won't regret it.

Obvious answer: Have 2 5 string basses, buy 1 6 string set, 1 4 string set. Split B and C onto the 2 basses you want, success!

Above method only works if you have 2 5 string basses.
