EB vs DR for BEAD tuning?

I currently have an ibanez srx300 tuned BEAD with eg power slinkys. I find the low b to have a bit much "clank" to it and was looking at Dr black beauties for their b string. Any input on one vs the other for noise/clarity? I'm using this bass for Marilyn manson and anything heavier with that low B or low C.

The good news is both strings are available as singles so you can put together any custom set you would like from either manufacturer.

It will come down to the feel and tone that you like.

I suggest getting the B string (or string you mainly play out of the set) from each and trying them out. Then once you see which you prefer most build your set from there.

Any direct comparisons you can think off off the top of your head. What differences in playability will I notice (tension?) from the .125 DR to the .135 EB ?

The DR .125 non Tapered Black Beauty is overall more flexible of a string. Is going to have a more bouncy feel to it than a .125 Ernie Ball Slinky.

However, DR also has Tapered Hex Core Black Beauty strings in .125 .130 that offer a more rigid feel. Keep in mind the taper is 3" long so it is ideal for Thru-Body instruments.

I figured the DR would be more flexible and quieter as far as string noise goes..

More flexible yes.

String noise, the DR strings use a smaller diameter winding and they are coated. That combined will have less fingernoise yes.

Yes, exactly...

All DR Coated Strings now use the K3 coating. Same coating on the NEON / Black Beauty / Red Devils / Cool Blue / and Silver Stars. All Nickel Plated Steel under the coating. The Dragon Skin are Stainless Steel K3 Coated.

That would be a good set to do some testing with!
