I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in recordings...
As some of you know, I decided to take the plunge and snag a .210 from Skip at Circle K so I can try playing around with Eb0. When I received this string in the mail, I think my heart stopped. I don't have a picture right now, but I'll be sure to get a few to show you all the size of it.
This isn't my my first time experimenting with low tunings, but I've never gone this low. I played around with F# for a year or two in a band. When the band broke up, I had that bass setup for Ab. I grew bored with it and needed to do what I was meant to do: go low.
My tuning: Eb/Ab/Db/Gb/Db/Gb. Why? I don't know. Ion Dissonance was using it for "Solace". That's all I can say on that.
I am making this thread to let you all hear it. I'm not a professional by any means, so you'll have to forgive the recordings as they're not the best. I was using POD Farm and Audacity. I tried to play fairly soft as to not have any notes "fart out". Some notes were hit a little harder than others. I used a little bass boost then played around with compression/noise reduction. For all I know, I made it sound worse. Oh well, onto the sound clips!
*Note: Please use good headphones or good computer speakers. I was using 5.1 computer speakers to record and it sounded pretty good, considering how low it is.
1. First clip is pretty straightforward. Eb0:

If you have good headphones like me, you'll be surprised how much sustain it is. This is the best take I have.
2. Another sample of Eb0:

This one was recorded using completely different settings and a different amp. This one isn't nearly as good and is pretty wobbly.
3. What's that? You wanted to hear what Eb0 (and other low notes) would sound like with fuzz?! Fine, here you are:

I used a pick for this so the attack is fairly hard. I forget the notes I used, but it was all within the first five frets of my Eb and and Ab strings.
4. Ab (5th fret) to Eb (open) in sequence:

Using my computer speakers, Eb rang out until the end. Unfortunately, my headphones couldn't pick it up.
5. Same sequence with different settings:

This one didn't come out as good as I hoped. I didn't feel like taking many takes, of myself playing several notes. This is where my professional "mastering" came into play. I should probably read up on Audacity tips and tricks...
6. Same sequence with fuzz:

Not as good as I had hoped, but again, it's only a handful of notes. I'm not trying to play with soul here.
That, my friends, is what Eb0 sounds like. So far, I'm actually enjoying this string more than I expected.
Please do not turn this into a war over how inapplicable this is, how no one can hear it, or how no amps will reproduce it. I wanted to experiment and record some notes for the other "lowlifes" of TalkBass.
Now let's hear what you all have to say!
EDIT: The soundclips are being uploaded to DropBox for easier accessibility.
