Ed Friedland's The Bass Whisperer Reports: DR Strings

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey All,

Ed gave a review of the DR string line a few weeks ago on the Bass Emporium site. I thought he did a really nice job with the review complete with sound clips. I use Sunbeams and the "Hi-Beam" flats and love em. I thought this would be useful to anyone considering anything in the DR line.

Thanks for the link. I've been wanting to hear how their Black Beauties compared to their other strings.

After trying out some different brands of strings like ROTO, Fender, Dean Markley, Elixir, D'Addario, Ernieball, now I only use Black Beauties, Silver Star coated strings and Slinky 105 gauge.

Great Link, thanks. I was suprised how bright the nickel low-riders sounded. I've only tried the steel Lo-Riders. I might give the Nickels a try after this

Great find, I'm very torn between the nickle low-riders & the black beauties.

Nickle Lo's, Black Beauties, and the Flats all sounded great to me.

Cool

I just ordered two sets of the Black beauties for my Stingray 5. It's graphite pearl with a blackice pickguard. I bet they are gonna look killer on it!

you could probably put yellow shoe strings and bow ties on that bass and it would still look killer.

Mr. Friedland rules!

And he saved me from checking out other DR strings, because it seems I like the ones I'm already using the best: Sunbeams!

Really enlightening samples.

You have no idea. The difference between stainless and nickel is big, but from metal to black is huge. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't recognize your bass once you get them all on.

DR needs to make a pure nickel string! Not that I don't like Lo-riders.
