Sure man. I have Status tapewounds on mine. I hate the sound of bronze acoustic strings.

Absolutely! I have to agree w/Hawkbone on the bronze acoustic strings. I just didn't like the feel or the sound with them on my Fender Kingman.

I put a 2 year old set of Rotosound 66s on mine and it sounds much better than it did with the stock bronze strings IMO. It has much more volume and a strong midrange that can almost keep up with an acoustic guitar.

Specifically flatwounds may produce more tension, but with most well built acoustic basses this shouldn't be a problem. I did the same with an old acoustic guitar. I just wanted to know what a set of stainless steel strings would do. I left them on the guitar, as they produce a great sound.

Is wasn't loving the Bronze strings. I'm a D'Addario fan but try other brands. The DR acoustic bass strings look like everyone elses bronzers but wait! They sound like nice electric strings with the added zing for projection but no brashness!
