Elixir .130 vs .130 tapered B string

Sign in to disble this ad
Elixir defines their light gauge with .130 (with .045 .065 .080 .100).

Their medium gauge is with a .130 taper wound (with .045 .065 .085 .105).

Assuming string tension is practically identical (given the strings have identical diameter), is there any reason why the more articulate sounding, tapered B would be with the medium gauge set?
