I've been using Elixir Nano's on my SR505 from day one and they're perfect. Great feel, perfect tension (the low B is SOLID) and they sound great.

It's amazing how well a set of strings will work so well on one bass, but not so well on another. I tried using Nanoweb's on my AM STD 5 string Jazz bass and the overall feel was too loose. Played with the action for a while, tried re-positioning my plucking hand but it just wasn't happening. Too bad because they sounded great.

Just ordered a SS set for my sb5000. Hopefully they will be here in time for weekend gigs.

LXR 4ever

I have used Elixir for years and have never found better srtings. Yes, brand new SS or nickel strings MAY have more TZING for... for some hours maybe.

The most important: LXR's sound is consistent for months (the need to replace the strings on my jazz was after 2 years of use. Yeah, their look was ugly hairy, but sounded more or less OK).

Consistency = no need to tweak the EQ.
