I wasn't to keen on W.L. Gore's bass strings but they are great for acoustic guitars!

I was one of the first people in the United States to use Elixir strings. W.L. Gore & Associates is located just down the road from me and they put Elixir's on the shelf at a local music store first and I was lucky enough to be able to play and hear these strings before most people had ever even heard of them. I recommend the Nanoweb technology for acoustic guitars. Great company with many great products. I have several friends that work for the company. -Luke

I would try that offer, but I don't want to include my address, zip code and e-mail address on an unsecure site. -Luke

I did a past trial for Elixir, which is why I'm sure I got the email. These days, I play fanned fret 5's so they don't work for me in terms of fitting my instruments.

Back when I still played 4's I did the nano-web trial and really they're not the strings for me. I didn't like the feel of the strings, though the tone was OK. Maybe these will be a big improvement from that.

The way the last trial worked was they sent out strings, after a while you did another survey about using them and you returned them to Elixir so they could check out the wear and condition.

Eh, I submitted my name. I am not a fan of their current line of bass strings (or guitar strings for that matter), but I would try out a new line from them. I know some guitarists and bassists who swear by them, so it's worth a shot.

I'm not a big user of their strings, but I'd be willing to throw them on my only 4-string (fretless) and see how they fare.

I just took the survey. Said something about first-come, first-serve, so who knows if they'll send me a set.

Never tried Elixir strings, but I'm open to trying new things. I've been a D'Addario user for the past 5 years or so, with the only wavering being a set of Rotosounds, a set ofDR Lo Riders, and a set of SIT Strings that are on their way to me now, but by and large I've been a D'Addario user.

This should be fun.

Well, I use Elixirs on my guitars, so I can only hope to like them for bass too.

+1 I know a lot of guitarists who use them. Never tried coated strings before or Elixirs, so that's my 2 birds there.

Eh, why not. I've been looking for a different sound other than my Blue Steels and Fender 9050 flats.

I'm glad that some of you can use this opportunity.

Here's the text of the email I received:

Quote:
The Elixir Strings team is looking for electric bass players to participate in an upcoming string trial. As part of the trial you will receive a free set of long scale, medium gauge (0.045, 0.065, 0.085, and 0.105) strings and will be asked to provide feedback about your playing experience using an online survey. Participants must be willing to start using the trial strings right away due to the short trial period.

If you would like to be considered for a bass string trial, simply complete our online form at: http://www.elixirstrings.com/fhbass-signup. Due to the limited quantities of trial strings, participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be assured that all information is confidential, and you will not receive follow-up sales calls relating to your participation in the trial.
I can say from past experience, that yes, they will send out strings while they last.

Sent my survey in. Like someone else said, free is good. Even if I have to send them back after a short time, it will be worth it.,

Last time they did this, they included a notice of a 'free gift' for helping them with the testing. I can't remember if it was a set of strings or a free shirt or something...any way, helping them test can't be a bad thing for bassists, can it?

Thanks! Maybe we'll get a set. My dad uses them all the time.

I signed up. Im mainly playing fretless basses (4 and 5) with flatwounds, but I have a back up fretted 4stringer I use on occasion that I can throw them on, though I prefer a .080 and .100 to 0.85 and 0.105s. But free is good, so why not.
