Elixirs on my Cirrus - ***?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have recently set up my Peavey Cirrus 6 with super light elixir strings (4pack+separate B+ separate C). All of them are marked as 'Long scale' on the packaging. Elixir writes here (http://www.elixirstrings.com/bass/fa...ichlength.html) that if the string is marked as 'Long scale', it should fit 36' basses. My standard USA Cirrus wallnut/bubinga is oficially 35'.

The problem is that all strings fit my bass, except the .125 low B, which is ~1 cm too short (the tapper occurs before the nut). ***? Did I receive a bad string, or my Cirrus is longer than 36'? Or I don't understand something about the measurement? I can add that my old 1.30tw elixir B fits my bass perfectly with plenty of reserve lenght.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like they just put the wrong string in the package. If it's about a cm short, then I imagine it's a 34' scale string. Take/send it back.

This also happened on my 35" scale Jerzy Drozd with a .130 low B: tapered just before the nut.
I simply ordered a extra long-scale low B. Maybe someone should have reimbursed me for it, but I didn't want to make a fuss for the money of one string...
