elixirs on my new jazz?

Sign in to disble this ad
OK so i have a new american deluxe jazz V, and I am not liking the fender strings on it... they sound flat and lifeless. they are dead I presume. But these fender strings have a tapered B and E string.

SO, I want to get elixirs for this as they are my favorite string, but elixir only offers a tapered B string, and not a tapered E string. Seeing as this bass is setup to play with the Tapered E string, would putting a non-tapered E string on this be a bad idea? Would I need to get the bridge setup to play with the normal E? or can i just throw the damn elixirs on and not worry about the fact that the E isnt tapered like the current sucky fender one is?

The only problem that might happen is that the action on the E-string will be slightly raised if you don't use a taper-wound string. However, it is a 5 second fix, you just need to lower the E-string saddle to your liking using the allen key provided with your Fender. You canno't screw anything up.

Wait, you walked outta GC without YOUR case?? The case that automatically comes with all American Fender Jazz basses?? Was the bass new or used?

By the way, I like Elixers. Fender strings are crap!

I didn't know it could be separated like that?? Just wondering if that's something Fender approves of?

fender probably doesnt approve lol, but who cares, they are rich enough. Guitar center sales people can be tampered with.

but i did have to argue with the manager to accomplish this (but they seriously just put up an act, they will totally sell it to you without the case if you dont give in to their BS)
