Epi Jack Casady string suggestions

Sign in to disble this ad
Had my Epiphone Jack Casady for some time now. Always had Chromes on it, but it's time for a new set so I'm asking for suggestions. In a perfect world my next set of flats would make this wonderful instrument sound as close to an upright bass as possible... any thoughts??

TI-flats were good.
I liked Ken Smith Compressors on my JC.
Best of both worlds.

While they won't do 'upright', I used to use Dean Markley Blue Steels... Great strings for the Jack... When I got mine back a few weeks ago, it was still wearing the Markley's that it had when I traded it, (after four years, they still sounded decent!!)

It's wearing Chromes now and those will be staying for quite some time...

For upright thump, try some LaBella Tapewounds...

Jack is using DR Hi-beams at the moment. Try them.

LaBella tapewounds probably come closest to the sound you are searching for.
