Just picked up an SX 5 string jazz bass friday, as I always do I put on a new set of string and do a deep cleaning. I thought I would try some regular slinkies and they are to bright. I know I just put them on they are not even broken in yet but... they are just to bright I find myself rolling the tone down alot. anys suggestions...

Give it abit of time. Most stainless steel strings do started it really bright and create alot of finger noise but once it is broken in and it will sound more mellow.
