Question Ernie Ball Slinky tension vs D'Addario XL tension

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, I've done a lot of searching on the boards and still can't find an acceptable answer to the debate of whether Ernie Ball Slinky tension is greater or less than the tension of D'Addario XL strings of the same gauge. Anyone have an idea?

Same here. I use Slinky's on one of my basses, and they feel "looser" than any D'Adario's I've used.

Hmm, that's odd. I used to use Slinkies and for my money, they and D'addarios feel like they're made in the same factory. But it's been so long since I used Slinkies that I may not be the guy to ask anymore.

I just replaced a set of Slinkys with a set of DA's and I have to agree that the Slinkys feel like they have slightly less tension. Not by a lot though.

On the particular bass they were on(SR5), I will be restrining with Slinkys. The DA's will be my choice for my J bass.
