Which ernie ball slinky strings would best suit a growly rock sound?

Depends on the bass you play. On my Sandberg Jazz, the slinkys were a little too stiff and the bridge pickup missed that typical JB sound. With XLs from DīAddario itīs all fine. With my ATK itīs the other way around. To little bite with the XLs and wonderful sound with EBs Super Slinkys.

I love the sound and feel of EB Super Slinkys. And they're relatively cheap.

I used to use the hybrid slinky set because the were 105-45 gauges.

I used the Ernie Ball super slinky, pink package, 45-100 gauge when I used them. They do help basses that could use a little more crunch and growl accent imo.
