Ever snap a string just by bending it?

I've never seen this. I won't mention the manufacturer until I get to the bottom of this, but I was installing a .125 B string on my Brubaker Brute...which uses the smaller post style tuners...and the string snapped as soon as some tension was applied.

I didn't get too upset, because the outer part of the string was wrapping around the post, and I chalked it up to experience, as well as a good excuse to finally convert the bass to string through body (which would put less of the outer wrap on the post).

But after taking the string off and playing around with it, it snapped again! Turns out, it snaps just by bending it. I don't even think it will wrap around a large post without snapping. Check out this (crude) video:

That is a .125 string I can snap at will. Ever seen that?

Never. Sounds like the metal in that string is too brittle. If so, it won't be the only one - there will be entire batches. I'd get in touch with the manufacturer...that shouldn't happen.
